South Wales
Client: Bengal Dragons Foundation
Bengal Dragons Foundation (BDF), is a community organisation based in South Wales that has established a community-owned renewable energy initiative that aims to provide the South Asian community with a more sustainable future by reducing carbon emissions and energy costs in community buildings, through energy saving measures and on-site power generation and storage solutions.
BDF contacted YnNi Teg to find out how they could address the impact of the climate crisis and high energy costs within the South Asian community in Wales. As a result, we are currently working with them on a pilot project looking at 10 buildings that are both places of worship and local community centres, undertaking a series of assessments of energy efficiency and potential for solar PV and other renewables to provide a complete overview and a baseline for improvement plans. This model could then be expanded to take in other community buildings in due course.
